It's Getting Real! (Close)

Editor's Note: This is another in a series of blogs written by 2020 homeowners Allison and Daniel as they allow everyone to experience the Habitat Rabun homeowner experience through their eyes.

Sorry, I missed last month. My main concern was working on the auction, and the next thing I knew, it was September!

Raise the Roof Event

First thing first, I want to touch on Habitat's Raise the Roof Gala. Since Governor Kemp extended the shelter in place order, the event was made virtual. I was a little bummed. I am not going to lie because I knew that the night of the event would be so much fun, and not to mention, I bought a super cute outfit! But the night did not disappoint. Consider the following:

I must say, though, the get-together at my mom and dad's was the place to be because the sheriff was there!

If it wasn't for Habitat's Event Chair, Barbara Anderson, Raise the Roof, wouldn't have been possible. I know that planning the in-person event was a lot, but having to turn this into a virtual event in such a short amount of time is very impressive. I applaud her and thank her for putting this event together.

Our New Home

The house itself is coming along beautifully! All the volunteers are doing a spectacular job. The walls are up, the roof is on, the interior walls are up, windows are in, and doors are up. The house is almost ready to be made a home. The most stressful part is now having to pick out the little things. I have never had to pick out paint, doorknobs, floors, kitchen stuff, etc.

Thank goodness for my parents' help, or I would have gone crazy! There are so many options! Daniel and I are beyond excited as the day grows closer and closer to moving into our own home.
