Your Support Can Build A Village of Hope

Did you know that residents here spend about 50% of their income on housing?

Housing expenses for middle and low-income families in Rabun County can be a heavy financial burden. This area's fair market rent estimate suggests a three-bedroom dwelling should be within the vicinity of $850 per month. However, due to the lack of properties meeting these parameters, the average rent or lease for a property this size is about $1200 to $2000.

Don Martin, President of Habitat Rabun explains:

"Habitat Rabun is addressing the issue. For over 30 years, we have built one home per year made available to qualified buyers. This year we are embarking on building a "Village of Hope" in eastern Clayton with the intent to build two – or possibly more – houses per year on Hope Drive. "

As Habitat Rabun embarks on a three-year project to create a Village of Hope that will include five to six Habitat homes in Rabun County, YOU can help by giving this year to build a legacy of hope!

Currently, we have raised about $20,000 of the $150,000 needed to complete these two homes. As a bonus, Habitat has a matching grant this year-meaning your gift will be doubled!

Our creative and mega energetic Fundraising Chair, Barbara Anderson, has been enthusiastically working on organizing our three fundraising events happening soon at Chota Falls, Lake Burton, and Sky Valley.

Not only will you have an enjoyable evening, a fabulous dinner, a chance to win auction prizes, but, most importantly, the opportunity for YOU to become an essential contributor to a Village of Hope. By attending one, or all of the events, your generosity will enable SIX families to afford living in a home with reasonable mortgage payments.

Here is how you can help:

Your gifts and support this year mean more than ever. Thanks for being a real difference maker!
