Building My Home: It's Final!!!

Editor's Note: This is the second in a series of blogs written by 2020 homeowners Allison and Daniel as they allow everyone to experience the Habitat Rabun homeowner experience through their eyes.

This morning Daniel and I had a meeting to review the final plans for our home. Daniel and I are so excited. Daniel is continuing to clear off the lot (he and a friend were working in the snow today) so a grader can come in.

Not too long ago, we met with the building committee and discussed what I needed. We gave a floor plan we found on the internet that we liked (all open so no obstacles for my wheelchair), and the architect took what we wanted and turned it into OUR home. It's like she knew what we were thinking and drew up perfect plans. This experience working with the building committee has been wonderful. Everyone has my best interest at heart.

Daniel and I are beyond excited, and we are so thankful for Habitat for Humanity of Rabun County.

The grader is here!! Our property is starting to look like a place for a house rather than a grove of trees.

Editor's Note: Due to COVID-19, Habitat for Humanity has temporarily stopped building on all worksites. Affordable housing needs, however, will only grow due to this crisis. Learn how to help our community here.
